I was in the heart of Hout Bay township today, on the hill with a great view. I always drive pass the police station and see the shacks but today was my first visit into the area. There are 3 creches out of the 5 in this area that are beneficiaries of Stop Hunger Now meals.
I think we managed to leave just in time as a mountain fire started near the first creche we visited that is right on top of the mountain and at the end of the road. I am sure we would have have 'parked in' by the emergency services trucks etc if we stayed longer as the roads are quite narrow. We were showered in ash and needless to say smell like we were at a braai.
It was hot out there...thinking of those fire fighters in this heat.
Unfortunately this time of the year Cape Town is known for it's mountain fires.
